Something I don't get. Why would the Lions wait this long to apply the option, under the premise that the draft might change things for Reiff's roll on the lions, and now decide to pick up that option so close to the draft? The Lions could have had the entire draft done and still had time to pick up his option.
Everything goes in reference to the Lions but attacks on other commenters will not be tolerated.

Lions exercise Reiff's 5th year option.

I am glad that they are. My guess is that they were really looking into drafting a LT or bringing one in to move Reiff to RT and the possibility of trying to sign him for less money next season.
ReplyDeleteNo question, they are looking for that option. I think it is foolish, fucking with your starting LT that has proven to be at the very least, above average and durable; seems like a bad idea too me.
ReplyDeleteAnd frankly, LT or RT means nothing to the option year. When he gets a new deal (he better) that 8 million will be part of his guaranteed money on that new deal. That is the starting point at both positions.
