Typical Lions Management.

Pissing away desperately needed future priceless draft value for meaningless wins. It is flat out bad management from the top to the bottom. The moment we were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, we should have been tanking the season.

Instead, we are beating very bad teams and losing extremely valuable draft position. Why? Because our Owner, President, temp GM and coaches don't care about the long term health of the team. They only care about putting butts in the seats this year (owner) and protecting their ill gotten jobs (absolutely everyone else).

Nothing is changing with this team. They are going to fuck up the GM hire and that person will fuck up the coaching hire and we the fans will suffer.

Fuck you Martha, Fuck you bean counter Rod Wood, Fuck you Sheldon White and Fuck every one of you coaches. The stench of your ineptitude will never wash off. That is your curse, forever.

  1. Hey bud...as is customary I disagree with you lol. I'll ask you this, what do you believe is a more attractive position for a GM candidate? A team that without question has it's franchise qb(A damn good 1 when properly supported), a bevy of talents like Johnson, Tate, Levy, Ansah etc on what is undoubtedly a roster with holes but far from completely talent absent & a top 15 pick? Or a miserable 2-3 win team, with uncertainty at qb, a roster full of guys that showed nothing in the past year where you may need a complete roster overhaul & a top 5 pick? I agree, this team needs more talent but imo nothing is more important than employing a GM that knows his shit that can in turn hire a coach who has that in common with him. Smart people who will make good decisions with those picks. We're not talking a late 20s pick here, we're talkin top 15-18. That's a great spot to get some of the complementary talent we are so badly in need of.

    1. Brother Feindish!!! Great to see you. I hope all is well with you and yours on this holiday season and happy new year my friend.

Stafford could have gone without throwing another pass after the 11th game this season and who ever is hired as our GM and coach would still have a without question franchise QB. One could argue that him not playing after the 11th game would have actually helped his image for his soon to be hired bosses. Stafford has the tools, he just needs help. That help comes in the form of talented players drafted. The earlier the pick, the better chance you get that help.

There are 32 NFL GM jobs and 32 NFL coaching jobs in the entire world. There is no need to sell this job. 7.3 billion people on the planet, 32 jobs. There are qualified people that will take the job. The problem, we have idiots doing the hiring.

I also don't think we need complimentary talent. We need impact talent. That is more often found earlier in the draft than later.

Oh, and this bevy of talent. I see a list of about half a dozen or so lock guys and then a bunch of interchangeable cogs.

We aren't close to contending for a SB. Hell, we aren't even in the same area code as teams that contend for a SB. We need to squeeze every ounce of draft value as we can but instead we are pissing it away on worthless win. That is the most Lions thing I have seen in the entirety of my life.

    2. Isn't that the goal? Contending for the SB? Contending for the playoffs isn't enough!!! That is a losers mentality. We aren't even close to contending for the SB. That is the goal and we are severely lacking in talent to make it happen.

Just look at a team like the Cards. Those fuckers, that is one deep ass team. Top to bottom.

We aren't a great draft or two away.......

  2. Gotta disagree. It's ethically if not down right morally wrong to ask a professional to be unprofessional.

    1. Under the right set of circumstances I don't mind it. In 2010, I wanted them to tank. This team sucked, they made the playoffs strictly off of Stafford's amazing year but the talent level wasn't there. Patrick Peterson was tearing up the NCAA & I thought he'd be a great complement to Suh on defense. Instead, we win 4 meaningless games under the charade of "learning how to win" & end up with Nick Fairley. Went well in 2011 then we promptly to several steps back into reality. I think we're still feeling the effects today with that lost 2011 class. Better draft position would've helped us there. Now? Now we have a stud at every level of our defense, the qb is playing his ass off & we have weapons everywhere. Now we need complements, not stars. So winning would be the priority for me, a mid round pick can still net you a starter & you can still continue to build depth in later rounds. Whether tanking is fine or not just depends on the situation imo.

    2. Being professional is doing what is best for the future of your franchise as long as it is not illegal and tanking for draft position is not illegal or even against the rules. It does cost you money in asses in the seats and that is 100% why we didn't do it this year. Greedy ass Martha wouldn't hear it. Just like her dead husband.

Do you think Colts fans are upset that they flat the fuck out intentionally sucked for luck? Four years in the league, 3 years in the playoffs. Multiple playoff wins. Nope, that suck year is so far gone it doesn't even matter.

One franchise thinks long term, one doesn't. The prior wins, the latter doesn't.

And don't even get me started on the whole, Caldwell was so inept that he helped the suck for luck cause and then the Lions somehow convinced themselves that he was the right coach for them.....

The same idiots that hired the idiots that hired caldwell are running the Lions today.

    4. In short, this is how a team stays mediocre and worse. A fear of making the hard short term but best long term decisions.

When was the last time the Lions did anything that was painful short term in order to improve their long term prospects as a winning football team? I can't think of any either.

These fuckers can't see past their own asses let alone their own noses and that is exactly why we talk about one playoff win in 60 fucking years.

Just keep the asses in the seats paying obscene money for beer, food and parking and nothing else matters. Make sure you have a flashy player or two to sell jerseys and you keep your job until the fan uproar becomes intolerable and those asses begin to stop showing up. Then the idiots will hire another idiot to keep those asses in the seats eating that over priced food, drinking the overpriced beer and buying those jerseys.

    5. Cutting Manning and playing Painter to get Luck came dangerously close. If proof ever came out that tanking was going on the NFL would be forced to go to a Lottery draft like the NBA did.

    6. The proof was there for everyone to see and the NFL did nothing about it and the Colts tanking.

Now, if one of the NFL teams that wasn't a flagship team starting tanking (us) I could easily see the NFL doing something about it but that would be a typical late NFL reaction. After we had already tanked and got what we needed. They would probably call it the Lions draft rule but would that really matter if we got what we needed before the rule change?

This is the problem with our Lions. We don't challenge the rules. We don't push the edges of the envelope. We don't think outside of the NFL box. We don't challenge ourselves let alone the NFL. Our owner doesn't care to ruffle the feathers of the NFL. We cowtow to the rules like sheep and inevitably we end up slaughtered.

    7. Short of it, we need an owner that is ready to flip his/her middle finger to the NFL. The Colts have that, we don't.
