Bad teams, great football.....

Ravens and the Browns. No build up. I didn't even remember it was Monday night with a game playing. I was so oblivious to the game happening that I didn't even realize my fantasy game hung in the balance by a WR that plays for the Ravens named Aiken.

I latched onto the game around halftime. My friend Alex called me and told me I was in the running for a win this week in FF. I turned on the game to see the Browns get a pick 6 for a TD. The remainder of the game was kinda back and forth. No real momentum for either team until the Browns backup QB (not Jonny Wannabe) but some kid named Davis Austin threw a sick TD to tie the game with around two minutes left.

Then the improbable happened. The teams traded wasted possessions and Schaub did what he does best. He threw a INT (not a pick 6!!!!). The browns moved the ball to the outter FG edge of Travis Coon's (great name) range. Of course, Harbaugh pulls the douche move to "ice" the kicker. The teams line up and some guy I have never heard of, Brent Urban, partially splits his blockers off the right side and manages to block the FG attempt!! The ball is live and Will Hill returns the try for a

KICK SIX!!!

That is one hell of a way to win and lose a game.

Extremely Lionsesque and fun to watch and I won my FF game!

Well....

If you are going to blow out the other team and win a game in front of the whole Nation, while hurting the future of your franchise, it might was well be on Thanksgiving.

Great game today Lions.

Time for Turkey and the fixings :D

I have always liked Mitch Albom

Now I respect him too. That is a great thing he is doing in Detroit and catching Stafford to be the face the project is an amazing catch.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

I hope you have a great day with friends, family, food and football.

The NFL needs to do something about the refs and the rule book

The games were already being slowed down and momentum being broken up far too often when the refs were reviewing plays. Now, complicating things even worse, far too many plays result in multi-official discussions on what happened.

It shouldn't be this difficult to ref a game. It wasn't 10 or even 5 years ago. Simplify the fucking rule book.

Were going to the playoffs!!!

What? Huh? That can't be right, can it?

We aren't going to the playoffs?

Ok, well what are we doing then?

Are you sure?

You say we are pissing away draft value with each meaningless win?

Really? You are saying that people that work for the Lions are blatantly trying to damage the future of the franchise in order to save their jobs?

Sounds exactly like the Lions.

Difficult decisions

I am a Loins fan. I always will be a Lions fan, damn it. Thanks dad.

With that in mind, I have come to a rather simple solution. In order to make what has to happen to the Lions, happen, the Lions are going to have to do what they do best, Lose. There is no other way about it. If they make this season somehow semi-acceptable in the eyes of martha, things aren't going to change. The only way things change (Caldwell fired and a real GM hired) is if the season is a total disaster to the owner. (it already is a total disaster to the fans but that doesn't count).

So, here we are today and here I am today. Rooting for the Lions future the only way I can, as a real fan, by rooting for the raiders.

Not joking: Rod Wood advised Martha to fire Mayillen and Lewand.....

Seriously, the guy that we hired to be our president was in the ear of Martha telling her to fire Lewand. You can't make this bullshit up.

I am just going to leave that there.

Ok, I am going to add one more word.

Fuck.

Heard at the Rod Wood presser....

I am not qualified to run any other organization in the NFL. The reason I am qualified to run the Lions is because of my relationship with the Fords.

Seriously, this guy said that. Of course, the Lions are denying it. This is exactly why he shouldn't have been hired. He wasn't the most qualified person for the job, he was the most comfortable for the fords. This is horse shit piled on top of elephant shit. Same Old Lions.

He went on to say there was no national search for the president position.

Shocking.... (ok, no it is not)

With all the changes and non changes (not new, new prez) that are on going with the Lions. One thing seems obvious. The team is making aggressive moves to strengthen its PR machine. Today, 97.1 announced it had lost the broadcast rights to Lions games. The reasoning, according to 97.1....

"CBS Radio and the Detroit Lions are parting ways," Kenyon said. "97.1 The Ticket has served as the flagship station for the Lions for more than a decade. CBS Radio says it has been negotiating with the Lions a long time.
"It is sad to say goodbye, but in the end it came down to the integrity of CBS — the refusal to be censored in talking about the team and making honest assessments on the air about this team."

You have to be fucking kidding me.

Exhaustive search my ass. Just hire someone you know with fucking zero football background. That is fucking moronic.

Same Old Lions

Nothing ever changes. Why am I still a fan of this team.........

This Houston D is playing angry fast

This is fun football to watch. The underdog taking it to the undefeated team. On the last play, the WR failed to catch the ball and the CB was so quick to respond, he couldn't pull up before he tackled him. Great no call by the refs and even better D.

This is how D is played.

Leave it to the Lions

Up by 8 in the final minutes of the game, Prater lined up for the game sealing extra point and missed his second of the day. It was so very Lionsesque.

The Packers marched down the field, down 8, and scored a TD. Oh so very Lionsesque.

On the two point try, everyone knew the Pack would get it and tie the game and then some guy I didn't even know was on the team (Butler?) made a play!!! Highly Lionsesque (You know, late game false hope)

The game was effectively over. Cover a highly predictable onside kick and we win. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand, nope. CJ (lionized?) had it and dropped it. Packers ball. Stunningly Lionsesque

Rodgers moves them down field with a couple good plays into FG range. Any sane Lions fan, are there any left, knew they were going to make it. Nope, they missed. We won. The problem, this is where it gets unbelievably Lionsesque.

We won in fat ass cheese land, a very good thing but...... We couldn't do it last year when it meant something. Or any other season when the game would have meant something. Nope. We do it the one year when winning there means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOOD.

We aren't winning out. We aren't making the playoffs. We aren't doing anything this year other than getting ready for next year and that includes where we pick in the coming draft. So, we won. Which makes our chances for the top pick worse.

We literally hurt our future with a completely meaningless win.

That is the most Lionesque thing to do.

ps Mayillen was fired!!! wooooohooooo
pps I don't believe winning carries from one season to the next. See:Last year.

That extra point miss is going to hurt....

You just know it.....

wow, two missed extra points....

You can't make this kind of Lionesgue play up.

Side note: Even when I absolutely @#$^$%^&#$ know that a Lions win is going to hurt the team long term (draft status), I can't stop myself from rooting for a win.

Has anyone seen a single good view of the game from a pylon cam?

Me either. Stop using it. The pic is low quality, distorted and can be replaced by one of so many other angles.

Just stop trying to force it. Improve the technology and let it happen when it is ready. Until then, just stop.

Side note: I am still happy.

Enough with this "moving on from Stafford" BS.

Not even the Lions would be foolish enough to move on from Stafford without an extremely viable replacement who has a very high ceiling. This is the NFL, there aren't enough competent QBs out there, let alone mediocre ones. The Lions (and us fans by default) have a mediocre QB, so they (we) should hold onto and support him until they are able to find a better one and they absolutely should be looking for a better QB. Stafford has shown what he is and that is not a top 10 NFL QB. At this point we just have to accept that 2011 was a fluke, sorry. Matt is our very own one hit wonder (its something right?). That said, he is what we have until we find better and we have 2 years to find that better QB while Matt is still under contract.

Name the last team that won the SB without a QB that was performing at a top 10 level that year?

Still so happy!!!

Pure joy.

Is the end of the world today?

The Millen administration is finally gone!!! Today the Lions announced that Mayillen JR and Lewand have both been fired. 14 years of idiots running the Lions is finally over. They shouldn't have been hired in the first place but here we are finally moving on. The key now, DON'T keep anyone from the reminder of the front office.

CLEAN OUT THE ENTIRE FRONT OFFICE!!!!!

No Xanders, no one. Start from scratch. Find a highly qualified GM from a consistent winning team not named the Patriots and throw a couple brigs trucks of money at him. This team needs a STUD STRONG WILLED GM that will whip everyone into shape and change the Lionized nature of this organization.

Sing it Izrael Kamakawiwo'ole.

Maybe things are changing for Lions fans and the dream we dare to dream.....
