Pissing away desperately needed future priceless draft value for meaningless wins. It is flat out bad management from the top to the bottom. The moment we were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, we should have been tanking the season.

Instead, we are beating very bad teams and losing extremely valuable draft position. Why? Because our Owner, President, temp GM and coaches don't care about the long term health of the team. They only care about putting butts in the seats this year (owner) and protecting their ill gotten jobs (absolutely everyone else).

Nothing is changing with this team. They are going to fuck up the GM hire and that person will fuck up the coaching hire and we the fans will suffer.

BTW, both Matt and Drew went down oddly on sacks on their most recent drives. Matt had his knee twisted oddly and Drew looked to have his ankle twisted in a bad way. I expect them both to keep playing but that doesn't bode well. Both QBs are starting to take a beating.

Caldwell quotes have me disturbed and the Lions front office and owner should be too. Caldwell believes he is still coaching for his career. He isn't. He still thinks his career as a head coach in the NFL is salvageable. It isn't. He has had two head coaching jobs and both of them have ended in abject failure. His time as an NFL head coach is over. I understand him wanting to put as much positive on his train wreck of a season as possible in order to protect any faint possibility of a future job but that doesn't help the Lions long term.

The season is over. The three remaining games are nothing more than a formality. They are glorified scrimmage games and should be treated as such. The upper management of the Lions needs to make this clear to Caldwell immediately. We are no longer playing to win this year. We are playing to evaluate young players for roster spots next year.

Just saying...

Odell could be playing for us. Donald could be playing for us. Taylor Lewan could be playing for us.

Ok, I never rant Mini but I do try :D

Let us start off at home

1) Our Lions are not a good team. They are a bad team built by an inept GM. Taking coaching into consideration, this is a top 5 pick team.

2) Edrop needs to STFU. He might feel that way. He might feel like he has justification to feel that way but that doesn't give him the right to open his mouth. He doesn't have the NFL chops. He just hasn't been around long enough. No one respects him.

3) If anyone needs to open their mouths about the Refs, it is the Owner. Not the Pres, not the GM, not the coaches, not the players. The owner needs to be the one to call out the other owners and the NFL as a whole.

4) The BS media about Martha being different from her husband is a load of shit. This woman is going to be dead sooner than later. She won't have time to make a palpable difference. If she lives to see a second Pres/GM hiring it would be surprising. She is a rookie owner without time to learn on the job. Speaking of that....

5) This whole succession of ownership to Martha and her stunningly apparent plan to Push Bill ford Jr. out of the picture in favor for her daughters has me entirely unsettled. I have seen sex oriented family power plays like this before in a myriad of situations and it almost never ends well for the business. That doesn't bode well for us as fans and it scares the hell out of me for the Lions future.

On the NFL,

1) The product is slipping in quality. In so many ways...

•  I know they need to sell ads to pay the bills but it is at a breaking point. Hogs get slaughtered.
• They need to adapt the college replay system. As the NFL's replay system works now, it kills all momentum in games far too often. The college game's system is far better. Swallow your pride NFL and adopt it.
• The rule book needs to be cleaned up. I don't necessarily think it needs to be simpler, although that would inevitably be the end end result, it just needs to be aligned better with what fans see on the field. If the rule book aligns with what fans see, there will be a ton less bitching about the refs.
• On those refs, Each crew needs to have 2 or 3 more added. One or two that is/are assigned to a sideline booth watching every play helping to speed up the reviews. The extra second or Third should be assigned on the field. It is apparent the game is just too fast for the crews as they are built now. Do something about it.

On the official death of our playoff hopes. Good. No more fans pretending we are something we aren't.

Finally, can we just get it over with and fire Caldwell? Keeping him around now is unfair to him and the fans. He will not be here next year and this season is over. On three separate occasions this year our Lions suffered losses that were horrible and on each occasion the Lions came out flat the next game. The players might like Papa Jim but they clearly either don't listen to him or his message and coaching is wrong; perhaps both.

Lions.... hahahahahahahahahaha

And we are mercifully officially ruled out of any and all playoff possibilities. I am so done with Lions fans lying to themselves about this team build by Mayillen. You can't lie to yourself anymore. This team sucks, just like the guy that built it.

The Cards are the best team in the NFC

The have the skill positions players. They have the ugly grunts in the trenches. They have the stud on D and most importantly, they have disgusting depth. Right now they are the class of the NFC.

I know some people would say the Panthers are the top team in the NFC but I just can't see that. They are a great team, no question, but head to head I am taking the Cards home or on the road, without question. Bruce Arians deserves a ton of credit for what they have done and their GM Steve Keim has done an amazing job building this team.

I hope the Lions GM search is looking at people that work under him. Their team is incredibly deep and talented.

I guess the Cards are my NFC, the lions suck so I have to root for someone, NFC team of this year. Watching the post game interview of Palmer, I am sold. The guy is humble and loves the game. The Cards are my NFC team this year. Go Cards!

BTW, I would have tried the FG on 3rd down there. You are clearly in range of your FG kicker who hit a 54 yard try earlier in the game. The only thing that pushes you out of range is a sack or a fumble and you have had trouble all day keeping your QB clean against the Cards ultra aggressive pass rush with thirteen seconds left. Just a bad decision that cost them a chance to tie and or win the game.

So...... Thoughts on today's Lions

We aren't the dregs of the NFL. We aren't the worst team in the NFL. Wooooooo Fucking hoooooooooo

Mayillen was competent enough to build a team that wasn't league worst while having early round picks in basically every damn draft he oversaw. That is a minuscule step up from his predecessor. Nothing special, but by some Lions fan's standards, enough to elicit a trophy of accomplishment!

But he is gratefully/god awful/wtf took so long gone and we are now left with a president that knows less about football than you or I.....

That isn't exactly a place of Lion's fan comfort is it?

All of this season's false hope of the playoffs is gone. Reality has set in like a comfortable blanket that we Lions fans know all too well. Now is the time for the wait. We wait for that moment. The moment when hope and desire collide with Lion's reality.

Those Lions have a choice to make. A GM to hire. That person will form our future. As is the Lions way. That person, for many reasons, will start the job hard pressed against the eight ball.

Can that person overcome?

We will see.

I have hope. Hope measured by Lion's reality.

let us be honest here, this game could be a good thing.

We weren't making the playoffs this year. Even if we won out it wasn't happening. We played a great game against a struggling team and lost. Our coaches went ultra conservative after the first quarter and we all paid the ultimate price, another loss. But there is good to be found here......

We didn't ruin our draft position.
We didn't loose by a large margin.

However, we did...

We did prove that we can compete.
We did prove that we need a new head coach.

All that said, there was one play left. ONE. Everyone on the planet watching knew what was coming and our coaches decided to NOT have their "hands team" in the endzone. Why? I have no explanation. The guy that caught the TD, Rogers?, had no one on him. How does a guy creep into the endzone on a hailmary play uncovered.

Help me here. In a hailmary situation, with 3 men rushing the passer and 5 guys blocking for the QB, how does any one offensive player not have someone mugging him like he got lost in the wrong neighborhood?

This is a coaching loss. There's no debate. Caldwell's poor coaching lost this game. Flat out.
