The quiet before the storm

I hate this time of year when it comes to the NFL. There is literally nothing happening. Every possible nit has been picked with any reasonably highly thought of draft prospect. Now we just wait. Eleven more days until the draft. Something might happen, someone might end up arrested or god forbid dead but this lull in the action is inevitable.

As bloggers what do we write about? Our love of the game and or our team?
The frustration of the off season that absolutely has not been a net plus in talent?

The draft is coming. Soon. And it will be frenetic. It will be, most likely, offensive to any Lions fan that is capable of thinking for him or her self but that day isn't here yet. Until then we have the Wing up 1 game to nothing in their playoff series with the Lightning and the Tigers are on a torrid pace at 9-1.

Bring on the draft.

  1. ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley believes Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew could be a trade target for Baltimore during the draft.

    2. really? What would they want him for? Are they lacking an inline blocking TE?

    3. just found the article, looks like the writer is speculating but I didn't previously know that the Ravens were so incredibly thin at TE. It would make sense for them to try to find a Vet to help mentor some younger guys.

Nice find on that article Mongo 71.

    1. That is just about all he is anymore. I actually feel bad for him, the Lions took him as a pass catching TE and basically told him last year they wanted him to be a small Tackle. At least they paid him before they did it.

  4. He was never really tailored for this offense. He had 2 really good seasons but that was when Stafford was throwing the ball 650+ times. Pettigrew seems like he would fit in more of an traditional balance offense. One where he would be an asset in the running game and still be able to be effective with the basic TE routes. 5-10 yard curl patterns crossing routes over the middle those kinds. Most of the time in Detroit he was ask to be an inline slot receiver which is not who he is.

  5. Jag's agreed on a 1 year deal with Wisnewski. I wonder If we talked to him about filling in at LG?

    1. He had a very good 2013 season dropped off last season, but for only 2.5 million I would given him a shot.

Far as I know the Lions never had any contact with Stefen
