News from around the Pride

Detroit has signed 2nd round pick Ameer Abdullah.

Tully is healthy and ready to go!

Detroit reworked Quinn's contract AGAIN for cap space. Grrrrrrrr

The Lions are apparently trying to be N.O. North signing Lance Moore. Bah, lets not have any bounties ok?

Desmond Martin is Detroit's newest RB.

The NFL concluded the Dolphins didn't Tamper with Suh.(cough) Bull Shit (cough)

  1. Lions gave Quinn more guaranteed money, as he deserved it... and with zero dead monies in 2016, the Lion's cap issues are over after this season.

The Lance Moore signing was a good one. What better way to judge the talent and push the young WRs (Ross, Broyles, TJ Jones, Fuller) than to bring in a Vet with knowledge of the offense. The signing can only make Detroit better.

Fuck the Dolphins. Suh has sealed his fate on a basement dwelling team that will never be able to beat New England out for the division... meaning they will have to try to take the Wild card away from Pittsburgh, Cinci, Baltimore, Bills (yes Bills)..... I just don't see them doing that with Tannenhill... especially if he can't stay healthy. I expect Suh to rake in his 60 mil over the next 3 years.... then come back to Detroit to help us win our 2nd super bowl.

    1. I'm not big on the Moore signing though he has to still make the roster. If they haven't been able to draft a guy as good as Lance that's troubling given what people think of Broyles, TJ and even for what Fuller did last year. Because none of the are really accomplished , who do you give up on? Ross is an easy answer, but 3rd years used to be the years wrs would break out

not big on restructuring- I didn't think the Lions would need to do that once Suh was no longer on the team but they do have his $9 million for this year to account for.

    2. Ok, CLF. Explain to me how Quinn's contract doesn't have any dead money in '16. Looking at Overthecap.com. It looks like Quinn has almost 8.5 million in dead money in the last two years of his contract. Totaling 5.6 and 2.8 million in '16 and '17 respectively.

As I see it, this restructure was a simple "push the hit to future" deal just like last season. yes, the Lions did guarantee him more money but they did it by compromising future cap space.

    3. This was a simple restructure.

      http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/13/lions-restructure-glover-quins-deal/

This created slightly over 1 million in dead money for the next two seasons of Quinns' contract on top of his dead money that was in his contract prior including the extra dead money that was in his contract from last season's simple restructure that made his cap hit higher for 15, 16 and 17.

    4. Context. Dead money doesn't really affect the team unless the team isn't getting anything in return..... Houston, Suh, etc.

    5. .... and another thought for Quinn..... The Lions gave him a raise in Guaranteed money. Coincidence with Idhedigbo not in camp? Reward the good ones.

    7. YEPPER! Here's a side story.... Back in 2005 or 6 when I acquired a 'desk job', I started frequenting Lion blogs. TOPIX.com.... it was there that I started my first ever handle... Viking Humper... in jest to the Viking fans trash talking the Lions Topix thread. Topix soon became bloated with spammers and I found myself sticking around the Vikings blog talking football and smack as I got along with about 4-10 guys on that site. Well, me and the 'leader or loudest' Vikings blogger got into it quite a bit and the Viking Humper handle got banned... So I came up with Censored Lion fan... CLF. I use it to this day.

Happy/Sad followup.... "Childress", the Viking's fan who I would jaw with, sadly lost a short fight with Cancer last summer. He was in my FF league (a money league) and I wondered why he signed up, but didn't pay.... he passed late last July. Another Viking Fan, Fran da Man is still a 'blog friend' I have his Cell and text him every once and awhile (he aslo spent a couple years on my FFL).... he's from Alaska.

I'm a vet blogger... if you will. Here's a link to my profile on Topix... for those that question my story...

Good group of guys. You can track posts back to 2006... they did not have 'membership' until Dec 2006.

I still drop in and the some of the same guys are still there. Watch out for "AVANT"... the guy is kind of their whipping post/jester...lol (Culpepper in the HoF predictions and such...lol)

      Anyway... RIP Rick (childress)

  2. Tully is one player I will be keeping an eye on this offseason. It is not easy to come back from a ACL tear, especially once you get over the 30 year old age mark.

Lions seem to be bringing in several different types of RBs. I like it the more the merrier.

I figured that the NFL would say no tampering occurred with the Lions/Dolphins. The language used in the NFL's "legal Tampering" period was just to ambiguous and easily worked around.

    1. I hope tully comes back a stud because the guys that protected him up front are gone and while we did add the one possible FA I really wanted (Ngata, who I called out as a possibility very early), we didn't get him how I would have preferred (in FA instead of a trade), we lost a load of talent on the D line.
