Whoop somebody's ass! Warford edition.

“We have to be more aggressive,” Warford said Monday after the first day of offseason workouts. “We can’t be as technical as we tried to be. The biggest thing is we tried to break everything down. We tried to focus on a bunch of stuff at once, down to the smallest detail and in offensive line play, that’s cool, but at the end of the day you have to whoop somebody’s ass.

“We weren’t necessarily being the players we were trained to be from the start. We became somewhat robotic in a sense and that biggest thing coach [Jeremiah Washburn], the first thing he said is we’re coming off the ball. We’re running off the ball. There’s nothing else to that. We’re going to set the pocket and run off the ball. He said that today and that’s what it has to be.”

What is not to like about this young man? We need a couple more of him on the O line and we might just be set!

  1. that's not an adjustment they can make in season? only put that mind set in in camp? It is concerning on the offensive coaches if that is the real reason for the oline struggles and not the injuries particularly if the line plays well this year, and they do so while simplifying the scheme….

    1. that really is a good point billy. But it seems like most Coaches are loath to alter any plans during the season. Only the genuine top end coaches seem to be able to do that sort of thing and I am not sure why. lack of faith in players, themselves to coach? It has to be something.

    2. wouldn't it be neat if the Lions actually turned out to have lots of oline depth we've been dismissing? Reif, Waddle, Lucas, M Williams creates too many tackles? say they all become plus tackles .. do you trade one? move their position?

    3. that would be more than neat. I might lose my shit if something like that happened.
