C.J. "Detector Disabler" Mosley anyone?

According to Kyle Meinke that could happen. Even more interesting, a "source" says that smoke detector incident was misreported. Going so far as to say that Mosley in fact didn't disconnect the dectector, is not a pot smoker, wasn't smoking weed that day and has never tested positive in his ten seasons as a NFL player. Of course, that same "source" failed to explain why there was weed in Mosley's room.

Ok, after taking a big old bite of that BS sandwich, I can't help but snicker. What a load of crap. So, either Mosley was covering for someone else who had possession of weed in his room and left it there or he is full of shit? But if he was covering for someone else, why was the detector disabled? Was he covering for someone else on that too?

First, it doesn't take much effort to avoid testing positive for non-PED substances in the NFL. Stop doing your recreational drug of choice long enough before April 20th that you can test clean if you are picked for a random test. Stay clean until you are tested or August 9th arrives and you are free to do whatever you want for the rest of the year with zero chance of you being tested again. Beating the NFL recreational drug testing is comically simple. There are no excuses for failing this test other than being an idiot.

Second, if the incident was misreported so badly back then, why didn't Mosley and or his agent come out and refute it? Why let it die with the public believing that what was reported was what actually happened? There is something to be said to using the "don't feed the media trolls" mentality but when those media trolls are portraying you in such a poor light, which is categorically wrong, you need to set them straight.

Finally, this is the NFL. Disabling a smoke detector and smoking a bit of weed is NOTHING compared to some of the atrocious things other NFL players have done who are still playing the game. Honestly, disabling the smoke detector is by far the worse of the two actions and it is not even close. That potentially puts other people's lives in jeopardy. Seriously, what kind of a dumb-ass does that kind of thing?

Bottom line, Mosley has talent, has played extremely well for us in the prior two years and would bring a strong veteran presence to a DT position group that presently has Ngata and a bunch of no bodies. His mistakes were minor compared to those committed by other still playing NFLers. I say, if he comes in at a reasonable deal, bring the man back. Just keep him away from the wire cutters.

Oh, one last thing. How could the Lions justify bringing back Mosley with all their pompous bloviating about character being so critically important to them? If I were the Lions and wanted to bring him back while not undercutting my holier than thou preaching, I would start by prompting a "source" to suggest to local media that certain events that day were reported incorrectly and go from there. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
