Time for unqualified people to try to protect their jobs

The season is over. 0-4, teams have come back from that record once in the history of the NFL to make the playoffs. It isn't happening with this team, with this coaching staff and this front office. That won't change anything, the Lions from top to bottom will be doing everything they can to protect their ill gotten jobs simultaneously damaging the future of the franchise in draft value.


It is not time to circle the wagons. It is time to accept reality and do everything we can to maximize our future value but that is not how people think whom hold jobs they are woefully under qualified to hold. That sort of person, they don't think about the big picture, they think about their pay checks. Doing just enough to scratch along and keep those checks coming. Hoping to squeeze one more year out of the owner because "the guys never stopped fighting", "we were so close in so many games", "yes, the season started horrible but we won our last 4 games", You guys remember that 4 game winning streak that allowed a certain inept coach to hold onto his job back in 2010 don't you? Those are the standards of the Lions.

That is the story of the Lions in the last 58 years. It is the story of the Lions for as long as I can remember. Apathetic owner, pathetic GM and knee jerk coaching hires that are polar opposites of their predecessor because "we need a guy like that, not a guy like him". The cycle hasn't changed.

The only way things change is if the Lions season explodes and even then, we can't be sure they would hire a GM that is worth a shit but I will take an unknown GM over the known inept one we have now.
