Leave it to the Lions

Up by 8 in the final minutes of the game, Prater lined up for the game sealing extra point and missed his second of the day. It was so very Lionsesque.

The Packers marched down the field, down 8, and scored a TD. Oh so very Lionsesque.

On the two point try, everyone knew the Pack would get it and tie the game and then some guy I didn't even know was on the team (Butler?) made a play!!! Highly Lionsesque (You know, late game false hope)

The game was effectively over. Cover a highly predictable onside kick and we win. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand, nope. CJ (lionized?) had it and dropped it. Packers ball. Stunningly Lionsesque

Rodgers moves them down field with a couple good plays into FG range. Any sane Lions fan, are there any left, knew they were going to make it. Nope, they missed. We won. The problem, this is where it gets unbelievably Lionsesque.

We won in fat ass cheese land, a very good thing but...... We couldn't do it last year when it meant something. Or any other season when the game would have meant something. Nope. We do it the one year when winning there means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOOD.

We aren't winning out. We aren't making the playoffs. We aren't doing anything this year other than getting ready for next year and that includes where we pick in the coming draft. So, we won. Which makes our chances for the top pick worse.

We literally hurt our future with a completely meaningless win.

That is the most Lionesque thing to do.

ps Mayillen was fired!!! wooooohooooo
pps I don't believe winning carries from one season to the next. See:Last year.

  4. As long as I can remember but I was mostly a hockey kid. I've watched every game for 10 years now. I thought you might have quit on us bud. I guess the new guys running the show must have pissed you off over there?

    1. I used to be huge into hockey too. Then the two lockouts/strikes/whatever happened. That killed the sport for me. I am sure some day I will go back to watching hockey again but it hasn't happened yet. I do keep track of the Wings of course, what do you think of them paying Justin all that money?

10 years, that is a tough run for not missing any games. lol Basically, you picked one of the worst stretches of games in NFL history to be your 10 years. And you survived it still a fan. Kudos man. I think things are going to get better. We just have to fire the rest of the front office Millen left overs, all the coaches and then hire a GM that sucks blood from the weak and leaves them dying on the side of the road for the vultures to feast on their slowly decaying flesh.

Ok, that is a bit extreme. The Lions need a GM that will demand excellence from everyone. Millen was way too relaxed/chill/lazy. He wanted to be the cool uncle everyone loved. Mayhew was the neurotic uncle wanna be that was a little more fastidious but still found new and old ways to fuck things up. We can't keep anyone. It has to be a complete new start. That might slow things down initially but it is absolutely needed. The Millen stench must be completely removed.

It wasn't the new guys, it was the old guy but he is gone now.
