Really? Playoff participant banners?

Jim Caldwell said "We kind of like hanging those banners up there."

Pathetic. A banner for playoff participation? Can anyone confirm that the Lions fan hung banners for participating in the playoffs?

  1. i was more struck with Wood's comments (maybe they were Quinn's) about the raising of ticket prices... to be at average or above (I guess) so they can have the cash to do upgrades or other things to make Detroit really a competitive player in the league...

With thise emphasis, and I know Mayhew didn't exactly run into a situation that screamed raise prices ... but if that has been what is holding the Lions back.... seems like not a good reflection on the previous FO

    1. Well, you pretty much said it all in your own post didn't you? 0-16....raise prices? NOPE. 2-14....raise prices? NOPE. 6-10....raise prices? Maybe just a bit on the promise of young improving talent. Pretty compromising position starting with the worst team in NFL history. All that said I don't believe Rod Wood for a second with his reasoning for raising prices. They're paying for that swanky new vip tunnel they built in Ford Field & laid down a new carpet in the Allen Park weight room to make his claim almost believable.

    2. I do agree with you, it's hard to see these teams a cash strapped, and it does feel like they have so many side ways ways to make cash, that the argument to do it through ticket prices seems fishy.

even if not in a position to raise prices in 2008 though, maybe th recommendation to bite the bullet and make the right moves to be really competitive instead of falsely or unsustainably competitive... it'll be interesting to see if we notice a difference. Would Swanson have been better with the new weight team and nutritionist? Maybe Fairley would have gotten better guidance earlier on .....
By bringing it up, they've suggested it makes a real difference in results but it's not an area that is widely acknowledged as a need by fans...

    3. I think the improvements to the team facilities & the nutritionist will absolutely have a positive impact. Most fans don't acknowledge it because wtf do we as fans know about the inner workings of any professional sports franchise? All we see is the final product on gamedays. I'm excited for these tweaks, I like being progressive. I have serious doubts whether these ticket prices are paying for these moves though.

    4. They hired a man who's prior job, was to make the Fords more money, to run the Lions. Is anyone really surprised that man is raising the ticket prices to make the Fords even more money?

This isn't about improving the football side of the franchise, it is about filling the Fords pockets. The only thing they have ever truly cared about when it comes to the Lions.
