Ansah to Participate In His First Offseason Workout

Lions defensive tackle Ziggy Ansah is experiencing his first healthy NFL offseason  and will take part in the Lion's OTA's and minicamps.  Ansah was drafted in 2013 with the 5th overall pick and did not take part in the 2013 camps.  In 2014 Ansah missed out due to offseason shoulder surgery.

Now Ziggy is healthy and ready for the 2015 season, in which the Lions are expecting big things from him.

"We're looking forward to Ziggy really having his first offseason and getting into shape and having a great year and having the stamina to finish well," defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said.

With the possibility of losing George Johnson to the Bucs (Lions still have until Monday to match the offer), Ansah really is the only defensive end on the roster that had an impact last season.  Also, with a solid season from him it would make sense for the Lions to offer Ziggy a sub-prime contract extension before he hits his free agent season.

  1. We are going to need him to take his game to the next step if not another step after that. Having a healthy off season is a great start. Now stay healthy!

    No whammies.
